I was so sorry to learn about David West’s death but it reminded me how he helped me so much when the Venturers at church were planning to make up gift bags. To cheer up the men who had been wounded in Afghanistan and who after being treated in a Birmingham hospital were then sent to Headley Court to recuperate . We were looking for some way of packing the items we had been advised to collect and David offered a quantity of Executive Bags which were about to be destroyed. They were ideal. We were also offered a good number of white T shirts because they had the wrong logo on them and were about to suffer the same fate as the bags. These together with the bags gave us a great start. The officer in charge took a photo of the first recipient holding one of the bags: he was looking really happy. Of course we no longer do this because Headley Court relocated to Birmingham. We Venturers really enjoyed doing this and the help given by David got us started.
So good to remember
