I was interested to note Martin had mentioned who we might choose if asked who we would invite to a dinner party. I remember doing this year’s ago shortly after Bill and I were married and dinner parties were the ‘in’ thing. I can rarely handle more than eight for dinner so I think we could choose 6 guests. I can’t for the life of me who I chose in those long ago days but given that Alexander Armstrong on Classic FM mentioned doing the same thing this week I thought I’d try to do an update and perhaps some of you would like to do the same remember they don’t all have to be still living (and in my case they’re not all human !!)
- Would have to be Churchill, I volunteer at Chartwell and I could update him on how is beloved home is still being cared for.
- Would be my all time favourite broadcaster Sir Jimmy young who had the knack of getting politicians to answer questions , he interviewed Mrs Thatcher 14 times! (how we have needed him these past few weeks). He I am sure would have loved the opportunity to interview Winston.
- The Dutchess of Windsor (Wallis Simpson). Did she really love him?
- My Dad. So many things I wish I had thought to ask him.
- The wonderful actress Dame Maggie Smith. I’d love to hear some of her Dutchess of Grantham one line side swipes at Wallis
- And to keep them all under control and in fits of hysterical laughter Basil Brush. Boom Boom
Hope you enjoy my choices and have a go yourself.
Keep well
